Exploration & Adventure
Marcel is the brainchild of Fred Van de Walle, shipwreck explorer and visual artist. Fueled by curiosity and a passion for discovering the uncommon, Fred set out to create something truly unique.
Marcel isn't just another spirit. It's an invitation to explore. With each sip, you're not just tasting a drink; you're embarking on a journey of unexpected flavors. More than just an ingredient, it brings a distinctive flavor sought after by high-end bars, restaurants, and specialty shops.
Production and distillation
Influenced by global tastes, refined in Switzerland.
Marcel is made in Zürich at distillery Zum tröpfli, where Master distiller Stefan Müller is known for distilling award winning spirits.
After nine months of dedicated research and development, the final version of Marcel was perfected. Through persistence and countless trials, the best results were achieved - and the gold awards are there to prove it.
Craftsmanship and Ingredients
Marcel embodies true craftsmanship and a dedication to excellence, without compromising on sustainability or quality. While the exact ingredients remain a closely guarded secret, the distillery’s award-winning legacy, including multiple gold medals, speaks to the superior quality and skill poured into every batch.
Eco-Friendly Production Practices
Marcel’s exceptional taste is matched by a strong commitment to environmental sustainability. The distillery operates a sophisticated cooling system that conserves around 100,000 liters of fresh water and wastewater each week by using rainwater. Marcel is also produced in a CO₂-neutral process, powered entirely by biogas for heating.
The distillation process maximizes efficiency by using residual heat from spent materials to generate hot water, heating, and even enhancing overall production efficiency. The commitment to sustainability extends to packaging and transport, with reusable containers and a focus on minimizing excess packaging.
What’s Next?
In addition to our work with peated whisky, spiced rum, and smoked tequila blends, we’re also exploring barrel aging with various wood types, such as cherry and oak, to further enhance and diversify Marcel’s unique flavor profile. Marcel Spritz, Marcel & Tonic and Marcel Negroni will soon be available to go in the form of deluxe cans.
"With 'Marcel', I want to add a twist to the classic cocktail, providing an elegant experience that's distinctly different from what's out there. Enjoy!"
